1.8 triptronic, fluctuates 200rmp at low speeds!! no codes
 

So I just picked up a 2003 1.8 quattro triptronic for my wife (bought it privately), has 99,000kms on it. When we 1st got it the shifter had the magnet issue with PRNDS light on. I put a new shifter in it and that problem has been fixed.

The car now runs and drives perfect except for low speed/low rpm driving. When cruising around say 30kmph and low rmp (1500-2500) the car will slightly jerk and fluctuates 200rpm. it seems to do it in any gear, and in drive or sport mode.

I have been searching all day and so far havent found many hints. I did see that the torque converter seems to be an issue on the 2.0L B7 model but havent found much problems with the b6.

Any ideas??

Also I scanned with vag and no codes found.

*update*

Vag com show redir fail, when doing engine scan. says secondary air injection fail. ?? not sure what that means but doing a search now!

Today, did a bit more testing, with the car in triptronic mode it will still do it. only at low throttle/rpm/speed. car has to be under a slight load and it does it every time!!!

Ordered a transmission filter and fluid, will drop the pan tonight and see what it looks like. Im pretty sure its going to need a torque converter, will try new fluids 1st.
