Unhappy 05 A4 1.8T - Triptronic shifting issues - INFO PLEASE

not sure if anyone can help with this but I thought I'd throw it out there.

I have an 05 A4 1.8T wagon and it keeps shifting from D to S while driving in auto (PRNDS)
If I push the shifter over to the trip shift the display doesn't change. then the display will start flashing (PRNDS). I've taken the car into one dealership already and they said it could be a transmission speed sensor? but they just reset the computer - took it for an 8 km "test drive" and it didn't throw any code back so they said it was fixed... fixed for about 50kms.. then the problem returned..
now it does it almost on a daily basis... I have the scheduled maintance coming up but hopefully I can get some info from someone in the forums..

Actually I have heard of this problem being pretty common and someone said that they changed out the magnetic contacts??? and it fixed it. Not sure how though hopefully that helps out a bit

first check to see if the magnet under the shift plate is out of place. If not, it could be the shifter sensor. If both are normal, TCU (or TCM) is the problem.

I'm assuming that you are still under warranty. The dealership is trying to do little tweaks here and there until you are out of warranty. Then, they will start telling you to replace parts.

so I got the word... it's the transmission Control Module, which the dealership has ordered from Germany, so when ever that gets here they're gonna do the full service because they have to drain the transmission fluid to change the TCM... all covered under warranty...

Good to hear!

It's good that they will flush the ATF, which should have been changed every 40K despite the claim Audi makes regarding their ATF being a lifetime fill.
