Exclamation 04 A4 Timing belt question??

Just wanted to get some ideas on this. I recently passed 100000km on my A4 and from past topics everyone says to change the timing belt and water pump then but manual says 120000km. Car still runs great and no issues but you never know whats around the corner? I have set aside the money already so should i just get it done or is it to soon???

I let it slide until 115,000 kms.
Honestly speaking though, it won't make a difference whether you get it done now or 15/20,000km later.

Did mine @ Independent. Give Bryan/Mark a shout.

Irony in life....one day after i posted my question the water pump let go bursting water all over the engine while i was flying down QEW and my white A4 looked awsome with all that white smoke coming from the front... kinda looked like iwas doing a burn out on the highway....so now i have no choice but to do both.....

I got my timing belt done at Eurospeed. I wanna start by saying that Jack is the biggest there. I took my A4 to get my timing belt to get changed at 105000km, which is no where near its service date, but I wanted to get it over and done with. He charged me $900 for a Continental timing belt kit, serpentine belt and tensioner and waterpump.

After I drove it home, the car would squeal when I started it up because the belt was slipping off the alternator. Then my engine speed sensor died, my car started leaking oil, I had to get my N75 valve replaced and my brake vacuum pump.

So after $1500+ in repairs, I took my car to Peter's Garage because the car was humming after 40km/h to find out that my timing belt was put on too tight and the only way to loosen it up is to take off the front end and make the adjustments.

Eurospeed is by far the worst Audi/VW shop in the GTA. DO NOT recommend them to anybody. Vaso at Peter's Garage is friendly, honest and knowledgeable. He's always taken great care of my A4

lskA4,

I'd be interested to hear any news about where you got the work done and the price you paid. I also have a 2004 Audi a4 and I have 102K on it. BTW, do you have the turbo or the 6cyl engine.

I did mine on the earlyish side (around 105, 000) but the car is definitely older.
No matter though, since you're doing the water pump already as you said its time to do the timing belt along with it.

Hey guys.
I did all my work at a shop that i have been using for a few years now. Its called Eurocars 416-621-8848 and its owned by Arthur who got all his training done at audi Queensways. His shop is on 45 Algie Ave, Etobicoke . next to Ikea and Audi Queensway ironically. I paid around $900 total for parts and labour(water pump and all belts) in march but he had an audi forum deal which i think he still offers when you mention it. He did an amazing job cause my car feels faster. Its an 1.8t and it pulls much smoother now.. good luck and dont be like me and do it before it breaks...

I called Arthur at EuroCars and he quoted me (on the phone) $1,100 to do the timing belt on my 3.0 A4. That's a good deal! I'm definitely going there.
