**HELP** trouble starting

hey guys, I have a 2003 audi a4 1.8t Quattro and it has trouble starting sometimes. the times where I am having trouble starting it, it would sound like a chocking noise, almost as if there wasn't enough fuel being dumped into the cyclnders. I put the obd2 reader to the car and it came back with the code: Bank 1: Camshaft A (intake): Advance setpoint not reached(over retarted): p0012

It looks like faulty temperature sensor. The sensor is located in front of radiator.
