You're right, there's a lot of tires out there and a lot of personal preference. Whether you buy from them or not, you should head over to TireRack.com and check out their consumer feedback. Here's an example.

That being said, I'm buying PS2's this summer.

Running Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's on the S4, they are amazing tires and I would definitely purchase again.

Running Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's on the A6 and they are fantastic as well.

The chart that Regina_TTS posted is the same one I was looking when making tire purchase decisions. Tirerack has great research info!

Some Sport versions of the C6's (and other models) that shipped with 225/45/17 on 17" Rims came with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's which was another factor in the purchase decision.

Note the B5 S4 shipped new with Pirelli P6000's which I would NEVER buy, slippery when worn in the wet and way too noisy as they wear.

IMO, both the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's and the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's have excellent ride, low noise level and great handling! For example with the Goodyears and S4 Vogtland Sport suspension, I tried (only twice) and can take highway overpass cloverleafs rated 50KM/hr at 95 with no tire squeals... but passengers may not like it

Toyo Versado LX if you're in the market for a luxury grand touring tire that can hold its own.
