I've changed the batteries and reset as per the manual but both key fobs don't lock or unlock the car. The key fobs have lost all their functionality completely. No panic or trunk lid function either. Not sure what happened, but today just stopped working. Does anyone have any experience with this? I would greatly appreciate any feedback.

Yes, tried this link...the first procedure, with the key in the ignition, didn't work. There was a follow up post suggesting to hold the unlock button and slip into the ignition, turn to on position, then back, remove the key and release the button. That worked for one key fob, but not the other. I switched the batteries to see if that was the problem, but now neither of them work. I'm getting soaked trying this as it's raining, and will keep trying when it dries up.

I have a 2009 with the evolutive key. It is not a switchblade key. My two keys still enable me to get in the car, start it, stop it and lock it just by touching the handles and the start button, but the two of them have stopped being able to lock, unlock the doors and open the trunk. Any suggestions?

 

I would suggest trying to get it scanned and seeing if any codes came up, was at at any shops recently?

 

No. They just stopped working.

Ok, after 90 days of no use the remotes de program themselves.

Try these steps


1) Put the spare platic key in the ignition (the one thats in the glove box)
2) Push to turn the ignition ON (do not start the car)
3) Press the unlock button on each remote
4) Start the engine
5) Stop the engine and remove your spare key
6) Now Test your remotes

If this does not work I will get you the correct one sometime next week

 

Don't know if it's the same as a B5 but twice that happened to mine and twice it turned out to be the central locking pump.

 

Thanks for your help, but I don't have an ignition as such for a key. The emergency plastic key must be inserted in a hollow spare evolutive key which is then inserted in a slot. You then push on it, like "click on" and "click off" to start and stop the car. Do you think it would still work? I also noticed now that when I use one of the keys, the right side mirror instead of tilting to the ground when in reverse, it tilts to the sky. Very confusing.

 

Insert the key but do not put your foot on the brake this will just turn the ignition on
