Oil Leaking from spark plugs

2002 Audi A4 3.0

There are slight oil trails coming from a few of my spark plug holes. Anybody else experience this? is it an easy fix?? valve cover gasket perhaps??

Thanks

its probably the gasket so your goin to have to buy the valve cover gasket and the sparkplug one

it's quite normal on Auid/VW cars. pull the spark wire, see if there're oil in the hole, also oil wet around top engine, then it is. buy one/two set valve cover gasket set and some high temp RTV, and 2-3hours, you'll be fine. You can even find some detail procedure on internet(audiworld).

Re: Oil Leaking from spark plugs

here is a video(not mine), some minor mistakes, but overall good enough, just remember cross torque to 10N.m(7ft.lb).

I did mine today, bought two sets for US$44 from ebay along my timing kit few days ago. total took me 2.5 hours, most time spent on cleaning and fix those cracked vacuum hose.

That should be helpful!

I'm probably going to do my timing belt in the spring so I'll probably get them then and just buy a TB kit that has the valve cover gaskets.

thanks guys

cheers

+1 for valve cover gasket don't forget to clean the old one and the contact surfaces off b4 using the new one.
