hey guys.. so im getting no heat in my 2002 A4 1.8T
<changed parts>
-heater core
-water pump
-thermostat
-cervo (sp.?)
-resivior & cap
i had my mechanic pull all those parts and replace anything that wasnt up to par..
after im getting intermittant heat.
Now i was driving to work today and i has on the HWY and i see the coolant sign come up, i look at the temp gauge its sitting at 100-110ish degrees
when i pull over to let it cool down i open the hood to see that the resivoir is empty and there is pretty much no coolant in the system... this is a completely new problem, any one have any ideas why it would build up so much pressure that it would release fluid ouit of the pressure release on the resivior?

Check your engine oil and make sure it's not milky. That's your worst case scenario. Next check for leaks at the back of the head near the firewall. It sounds like your rear coolant flange has gone south. Here's the Audizine 'Rear Coolant Flange DIY'. I hope that helps. While you're at it change the sensor.

 

Just a thought but it could be as simple as you had air left in the system after all this work was done, which would give you intermittent heat and once it all worked it's way to the expansion tank make it appear that you had lost a load of coolant.

Have you tried topping off your coolant level and taking the car for a drive to see if your heat works better and if your coolant mysteriously disappears?

 

oops forgot to add that to the list of changed part.. the rear flang was changed, and i did bleed the system. as for the oil, it looks completely normal..
im running out of options .. audi here i come lol
