Lloud hummmmmm:(

On the highway I am experiencing a loud humming noise which seems to be coming from the passenger side front end! The noise doesn't go away when turning either way, and is unnoticable under 60 km/h. Any ideas?

wheel bearing!
i just had the same problem and replaced it a few days ago... audi charges insane for a bearing kit.... i got mine at autopartsway.ca online for $140 with shipping. sweet.

most likely a wheel bearing.

i get mine replaced for about $250 parts and labour. if its really loud humming, almost to a point that it sounds like metal to metal grinding--GET IT REPLACED

Re: Lloud hummmmmm:(

mine is not wheel bearing though. It's some sort of wind noise for sure from the passenger side.

Re: Lloud hummmmmm:(

i actually thought $250 was a great deal. I had a quote before that and it was going for $380

Re: Lloud hummmmmm:(

is the sound coming from the front or rear of the car? if its the front then its most likely your front bearing. if its from the rear, i've had an issue with my fuel pump where the car would hum while accelerating or even coasting. audi issued a recall for the fuel pump a few years ago so that's something worth considering.

I've ordered a few things through AutoPartsway.ca, they're based out of TO.

Here's the bearings you asked for...
1999 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8 L4 - Wheel Bearing Kit - BUY 1999 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8 L4 - Wheel Bearing Kit

BTW, I had that same problem with my B7, however I was fortunate that it was still under the warranty, both front bearings replaced by the stealers.

good luck...

so I paid $300 plus taxes for the job...it was a front passenger side bearing...thanks to those who offered suggestions and diagnosis.
