Hey guys,

So i installed some led license plate lights but now they always seem to be on when my car is on... I have the lights off and they just stay on, would anyone know why this would happen?

Is your car configured with DRL enabled - Canadian Audis were factory set to have parking lights/tail lights/license lights on with the DRL.

Recoding with VCDS to US probably tirns everything off.

 

Oh really? I knew about the tail lights always being on but I never noticed the plate lights on, I guess it was because they weren't bright enough at the time and I only had one working.

 

Is there a way I can set it so that they're not on?

 

As I said before, recoding to be US is probably the only way.

 

Ok so i would have to get my hands on a vag-com? sorry im new to the Audi world. I appreciate the help.

 

Yup get your hands on VAG COM and change it to the rest of the world. Thats what i did with mine. G.L

If you recode to US you will lose your DRL's. Check to make sure your region does not require Day time running lights to be on, if they do, you will get a ticket for not having DRL's. Im in the same boat as you, i had a b6 3.0 and it had DRL's but the licence plate lights were not on. And now this is my second b6 and the licence plate lights, dash lights, HVAC control lights are always on when ignition is on. Kind of annoying.
