Default Hose clamps question? help please

Hi,

Just want to share my experience changing the DV valve. 2 days ago I decided to change my DV valve so I lifted my car, opened the bottom plastic cover and from what I seen I thought it’s going to take me 30 min or maybe 40 to change it. Well it took me 4 hours and with some problems after installation. To make this story short, it took me just 20 min to take the old valve out and put the new one in, and the rest 3.5 hours I spent on removing and putting back the hose clamps. Honestly I don’t understand why audi used these type of clamps may be some one can give me advice how to remove them and install them quickly but I ended up using just regular clamps those that you tight with the screw. My question is it ok to use those clamps for the DV valve?

thanks

The factory clamps are great because they don't loosen up from vibration over time, whereas most inexpensive screw type clamps do. Using a screw clamp is ok as long as you can get to it to periodically check and possibly retighten.

To remove a factory clamp, use a pair of pliers to grap the sides of the crimped portion of the clamp, then gently but firmly twist back and forth a few times. Every twist will loosen the clamp a little.

If you are able to not mangle the clamp, it can be re-used a few times. You will need a proper crimp tool to re-install a new or used factory crimp style clamp.

You could use T-bolt clamps but be careful, they clamp pretty hard and you can collapse the tubing.
