not sure if the B6 platform have it, but the B5 has the (S)econdary (A)ir (I)ntake that kicks on during cold starts. They tend to start sounding like a vacuum as they wear out....

yea the b6 has sai, mine sounds like a jet taking off when i start it in the morning, its totally normal

does it happen in the colder months usuallly? Cold winter mornings?
its one of your belts. I think its the tensioner or the serpentine.
What km at and have you done timing belt yet?
