engine too hot?
hey guys, im new to this forum so i need some help.
i just picked up a 2003 A4, 3.0 couple days ago..its drives smooth and everything is perfect, but after driving it yesterday just around the block, nothing tooo far i pulled up to my drive way and noticed the hood was really hot :s...does any one know whats wrong? i hit the check button and everything turned out fine, but for the time being ive been driving around with the fan turned on low just to cool down the engine while driving if you know or think you know whats wrong, let me know, thanks |
Re: engine too hot?
You are not alone my friend. I have a 2004 A4 3.0 and I am experiencing the exact same thing as you have described.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
Re: engine too hot?
From what some guys said, it's because of all the plastic material all over the engine bay, it absorbs all the heat, that's why it gets so hot.... But at the same time none o them have audis, they just work at garages
What I've been doing lately is just turning the fan on low to help circulate air through the engine bay because everything else seems fine |
Re: engine too hot?
As long as your temp guage is okay, don't worry about it. My car is cooking hot (can't even keep my hand on the hood) after I drive. It's always been this way. I think it's because they have a big engine sqeezed into a small space. Man, the V8 S4 must be in inferno.

Thanks for the feedback, this is very informative. I noticed the cabin is piping hot as well.

Yes, black leather interior as well. I feel a burst of heat every time I switch gears.
