Default DRL's for a 2002 Allroad

Can someone clear this up for me? Is it possible to activate the daytime running lights on a 2002 allroad with just using the VAG, or do we have to do some wiring as well? Really don't want to pay $515 to Southgate VW/Audi in Edmonton if i don't have to, especially when they said they just have to do some minor wiring and then hook up the computer... If anyone knows what would be involved in wiring, could i get a quick run down on it? Thanks!!

You should be able just to do it with a vag-com, I am in Calgary so if you are ever in town I can do it for you. It takes about 5 minutes overall and the drive down here would only cost a tank of gas

We have a Vag-com and can't find where to do it from. Need some directions please!

Same issue here with Allroad. Dealership, Queensway in Toronto, has informed me that they have to re-wire the vehicle, at least that what they have done in the past, as it has no ability to reprogram, cost is $225- $275
I would love to get to the bottom of this issue. If you can re-program via VAG-COM then there is another reason to purchase.

There is a module at Canadian Tire for $29 that turns on your DRL's you can DIY and it takes about 1 hour

Alright just looked into the wiring diagram and as far as I understand they DO NOT come pre wired so you are going to have to do it yourself, sorry for the inconveniance and to be the bearer of bad news

Thanks for the response.
I'm somewhat confused, as per your second email.
Will the module for Can. Tire work?
Where did you view a wiring diagram for the Allroad (Bentley Man. or.....)?
Best place to purchase a manual/DVD for the Allroad?
Thx. for the input.

Hi,
I also have just imported an allroad(2005) to Winnipeg, and am wondering if it is a simple setting change, or if rewiring is required. Are all the allroads 99 to 2005 the same?

The allroads are odd and they need hard wiring as far as my experiance extends with this. Not sure if you have a vag-com you can try and check and confirm but I am honestly not sure for some of the newer models. I got told that all of the allroads need hardwiring, but could be wrong!

What is involved in activating daytime running lights on a 2005 US spec. Audi allroad for the Canadian market? Thanks

Hello seanmc
Welcome to just answers. You will need to take your car to a dealer or shop with the audi scan tool and they will have to recode the electrics module for day time running lights. It is all in the coding of the control unit.

seanmc
Thanks for the reply.
I had been told that rewiring ( new under-dash harness) was needed for the allroad because it was different. Is this not true, and it's just a case of changing the settings in the module?

It is all in the coding the parts film only list one harness for usa and Canada.
