Default dipstick troubles......

so i went in for an oil change today at jiffy lube since it was on my way home from work... they put in 5.7L of quaker state european synthetic 5w30...started the car...then let it cool down for 5 mins and checked the dipstick.... only a tiny little bit on the bottom showed on the dipstick...so we waited another 5 mins....checked again....same thing :S ...they added 200ml more oil... waited 5 mins....same thing! what the hell? does the oil take that long to settle in the 3.0 engine? the oil filter and oilpan screw were nice and tight :S
its parked in my driveway now i'll go out and check it in an hour.... they put almost 6 litres in the thing...im afraid to add anymore tho :S

when i checked my oil before the oil change the dipstick read full ...

by the way...anyone have any experience with the quakerstate european synthetic?

Looking on pg 370 of the manual for my '06, it shows the 3.2L engine taking 8.1 liters, so maybe your's is close to that? If there's nothing on the stick chances are you need more in it.

An '02 3.0L A6 engine takes 6.4L engine oil. If your engine code is AVK then yours should take the same amount of oil.

Where did the 5.7L recommendation come from?

Wtf? ~_~ The dipstick dont lie dude, go put more engine oil in or you'll really mess up your engine. Not enough engine oil can cause overheat, damage to the pistons due to lack of lube from the oil. And the quaker state stuff.. its alll baloney... u want power and better performance? go Mobil 1, royal purple, or motul if u want euro engine oil. Expensive car gets expensive shiit..

I have an '03 A4 with a 3.0 and the Audi manual says 6.3L of oil. When I did my last oil change it took approx 6.3-6.5L of oil to bring it right to the full line. Being that mine is a '03 and there were no revisions from '03 to '04 I would rather doubt that they reduced the size of the oil pan. Did you buy the car new? Maybe you have a manual for a 1.8T engine or something?
