Coil Pack Replacement Cost
Hey guys. My first post i guess and i have some questions about coil packs.
Im pretty sure i blew one this morning and i was just wondering if i absolutely have to take it to the dealer to get it fixed. I mean is it possible to buy the part and just pop it in? If this is the case what would i need to know to do this? How much are the parts and where is a good place to buy them (i am in brampton, near toronto)? Thanks in advance. |
Re: Coil Pack Replacement Cost
Cant help you on where to get the parts, but it is a very simple procedure take them off with a pair of plyers and put the new ones on very carefuly as they are very very fragile and can break at the connection point. No need to go to the dealer

Re: Coil Pack Replacement Cost
today iyt'll be kinda hard to get coils for your car other than a dealer, but if you can wait till monday you can go to eurospeed and they have these coils in stock, they are about $30-$40
i get most of my parts, stock ot performance parts from them. |
Re: Coil Pack Replacement Cost
I needed them right away so i got one from a VW dealer for $50 with tax. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Re: Coil Pack Replacement Cost
This might not be your last to go so consider finding a cheap spare to keep in the trunk! Note that lifespan can vary depending on the version, with the last letter in the part number telling you how recent (reliable?) it is. I think you want the "R" version but check around.

Re: Coil Pack Replacement Cost
I kept a couple of spares and a screwdriver in my car (BT B6 A4). I blew a few CP's over a couple of years and it takes about 30 seconds to change a coil pack. FYI, the screw driver is used to take the engine cover off and release the clips holding the wiring harness to the CP's. This is coming from a guy who is most comfortable with only 2 tools: WD40 and duct tape ! ;-)
