Default Brake Pad Sensors

Hi Guys,

I understand that Audi's have brake pad sensors to warn drivers when brake pads are almost worn out. Are the sensors only on the front pads or on the front and rear? Thanks!

So if I get aftermarket pads, will my brake sensors no longer work. I have heard the they are built into the actual pad.

Sorry i made a mistake in my previous post my friend, its fixed now! However after market pads have the connections as well, try Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels the front ones have a D male connection which is what your car has

both have sensors, as stated above
but they are seperate from the pads
so aftermarket pads will have no problems

watch out if you need to replace them tho, theyll cost you an arm and a leg

pads aren't that badly priced. Paid right around $100 for a new set of fronts from Audi. That was with the new sensors in them. If you have a brake sensor light on, don't be too concerned with changing them asap. I drove for about 10k km's on my car with the sensor light on before I finally did the pads. Could probably have done another 10-20k km's before the pads were actually shot. The sensors go off wayyyyyyy to soon. Like 1/4 to 1/2" of material left on there!!

what espirtman said, and brake pads vary depends where you get them. I got all 4 sets of brake pads for 70 bucks (front/back brake pads). If you know a friend whos a mechanic, they get so much freaken discounts off of them its no joke. But audi will cost you way more for the same quality.

You can get pads without sensors and then bypass the warning sensor. I ended up doing this (due to receiving the wrong Hawk pads) and it really didn't matter to me as I check pad wear regularly (as well as tire wear pressure etc.).
