Default Air Bag light

So now that my warrenty has expired a few small things have showed up. Most importantly its the air bag light. The dealer scanned it and its the driver side air bag. Why would this just show up on its own??? whats the best way to fix this without having the dealer charge my a few thousand for replacing a good airbag?? any help would be amazing. Thanks to all...

Did they tell you the specific DTC or inform you which specific air bag on the driver side?

It was the driver side seat belt air bag. I guess its in the roof and side body.

Come to our next Calgary Audi Club meet, I will scan it for you and check it out and tell you how to fix it. Or meet up with me when you get a chance I am in the deep SW.

If it's an airbag inside the upper backrest outboard side of the seat, reseat the electrical connector under the seat. Moisture can cause the connector to oxidize and trap a "high resistance" DTC which will turn on the airbag light.

Thanks, that was exactly what I wanted to check if it is that airbag I know that that is a common problem. Also clear the DTC's just in case, and then re-scan it to see if it comes back. Sometimes I found the connection goes loose or it loses a signal and throws the code.

You need a vag-com to reset the DTC's! I thought your location was Calgary but now you changed it!
