04 A4 6 spd clutch problem
 

Hi, im a new audi owner and new to the forum, i just got my A4 yesterday and i already have some trouble....:confused:

I cant shift in any gear when the engine is running, but the pedal is not stuck at the floor, and there is enough oil in the reservoir....

Im totally new to this car so i need help, is this a common issue with the 6 spd...

I don't' get it. You push in the clutch and try to shift? What happens, does the stick not move, does it grind? More details please....

Also, if you just got the car yesterday, how did you get it home? Did the problem just show up this morning?

I bring the car home yesterday, everything was fine, then i take it for a ride with my wife and suddenly, i cant shift anymore on any gear, like if i have no clutch at all, the stick just dont want to get in any gear, it doesnt grind or anything. I know the problem is clutch related but i dont know where to start....The car is really new to me.....My first impression was a faulty master cylinder or slave......Are they inside or outside the transmission??

So does the clutch feel soft, like there's no pressure?

Yep, really soft but it came back, it dont get stuck to the floor.

Get in your car and pump the clutch like 10 or 20 times and see if you can build up some pressure. At least we'll be able to figure out if it's a pressure problem.

Thanks for your help pwrdriftr, i just pumped it like 40 times and the pedal is still soft as ****.....

The clutch is hydraulic assist using brake fluid so it will be fairly soft when working properly. Suggest check you brake fluid reservoir to ensure it's at the full mark. IIRC the clutch slave cylinder is on top of the trans bell housing and hard but not impossible to get at. Maybe inspect underneath for leaking brake fluid from hydraulic clutch components. Could try a brake flush including bleeding the clutch slave. Most folks don't know to or skip bleeding the slave cyl when replacing brake fluid every two years aka it may be original and old fluid in the slave. Hope the clutch has not failed.

I hope too......The reservoir is full.....

Could it be the master cyl. ?? Is it located near the clutch pedal??
