Torquing with lubricants can produce very different bolt stretches - it is certainly not a negligible difference as has been mentioned. Furthermore, the type of lubricant used will cause the values to be all over the place, making a consistent rule of compensation for lubricated bolts impossible to formulate. A wheel bolt is not the most critical application for correct torque, but I highly recommend not lubricating your wheel bolts with anything. Anyways, are you guys really planning on not having your wheels on for several years? It would take you less than 5 minutes to crack them all and re-torque them - something you should be doing several times a year anyway (I do it at least once a month).

Anyways, not doing things as specified by the Engineers is a very poor mentality to have if you're doing any mechanic work at all - who knows how many engines/vehicles/lives have been destroyed due to improper mechanics.

I'm one. I dropped 1500 into my last vehicle and 2 days after getting it back, the crank bearing went, and it just so happened they were working in that area.. I 100% blamed it on them.. but what could I do... They even admitted to me they made a mistake and had to do the same job twice.. I just think the second time they were careless and rushing as it was costing them the time..
