Default New Tire Blew Out - Horrible Garage

*sigh*

Just got all new tires on my A4 on Monday. (Michelin's)
Was driving to Future Shop this morning, and I was on the hwy, and the car started vibrating unusually, and I figured something was up, and as I was getting closer to the offramp, I knew something was seriously wrong, but I didn't know what, then I glanced behind me and saw the smoke from the burning rubber...

I pulled off to the side of the road and saw that the rear left tire got shredded right off the rim.

Got the spare on, and this is the remainder (the other side of the tire was shredded off too)

Drove back to the garage where I got the tires installed. What an absolute horror show that was. I went in and let them knew the situation (the manager was not in at the time) and they printed out an invoice for me to sign, which had some inspection charge on it.

At that point, I said I'm not paying a dime for any of this. I also informed them I got whatever warranty it was that they offered with the tires. He then went back to his computer, printed out another invoice, which was even MORE, as it included balancing, and they wanted me to purchase ANOTHER warranty since it was a new tire they'd have to put on.

I was ready to lose it, but again, I informed him I'm not paying anything for this. He then said how he didn't have any kind of authorization over that as he wasn't the manager, and I could wait. I waited about 5-10 minutes, and at that point, I went up to him again and said, Look, we might as well get the car in there anyways and get the new tire on, as that's going to have to happen regardless, and deal with the administrative stuff later.

He said, Oh okay... and printed out a work order. Then the manager finally came in, but was moseying around the shop, moving things about, and generally ignoring me. The guy who was there told him what happened, and he basically shrugged it off, like, "Yeah, so?".

I explained my story to the manager, and keep in mind, I was very polite, no raised voice, no swearing, nothing. I ended with, "and I don't expect to pay anything for this."

He then goes, "EXCUSE ME? Don't go off the deep end" and I was ready to say, "What do you expect, my ****ing tire just exploded!"

He started giving me a lecture about how life works and how certain things are! Unbelievable, he walked off to look at the shredded tire, and came back to tell me that there was a slit in the tire, but at that point, I hardly cared how it happened, I just wanted it resolved.

So, as if he was doing me the biggest favor in the world, he says "THIS time we'll cover it. THIS time. Do we understand?"

As if there was going to be a ****ing next time I go back in, after that display of "customer service"

EDIT: By the way, this was at Active Green + Ross on Ritson Rd in Oshawa.

I dont understand people who work in the Service industry, have such a A**hole air about themself. Are they taking your business as a favour to u??

if u do decide to buy from them, bring a lawyer friend with you to peruse over their fine print...
then if something goes awry, bam!! stick it to em.
