Default Modifing an A4

Hey i have been recently thinking of buying an A4 but i dont know what model to get. I have decided to get a late 90's model but im not too sure on the 1.8T or the 2.8 V6. I have heard you can get chips for these cars, how much do they cost? How much horsepower do they add?

If you want to mod the car get the 1.8T. The 6cyl A4's do not have much aftermarket mods available.

Get the 1.8T you will not regret it. you could get a fully loaded ECU on sale for about $599.00 that will add around 30HP.
Make sure you get Quattro.

Just don't buy HID lighting if you need it! Nobody wants to install it!

HID's are a great upgrade. Good DIY too.

Definitely get the 1.8t. HID is a worthwhile mod also. If you do want HID make sure you get the facelifted model cause then you have the one piece headlights instead of the two-piece.

I call BS on the DIY HID installs. I went to two shops today and they just don't want to do it, or they would do it for three hour labour charge.

Sure I could do it myself but it would be an ugly install.

Hid installs are very simple and with a couple sleeves and electrical tape, look mint. Install only takes the time of switching bulbs if you already have a good place picked for ballasts, behind the headlights is great on older a4's. I just got the 2001 a4, xenon is stock, awm engine and every improvement made before the body style change.
