Looking for a B5!
Hi guys,
I'm new here and haven't introduced myself yet because I don't have an audi so far.
I'm researching in what possible problems to search when looking a possible acquisition. Pardon me if there's a thread on that (should be, I know) but I tried to find one with no success.
On an overall look at the forum I found these to be observed as common problems:
1- CV joints - which I can hear if are bad
2- CCT problems - I can hear the engine working. Anything abnormal would get me away from the car, I believe CCT is included here
3- Brakes - vibration and warped rotors appear to be quite usual problems
It there anything else in what I should keep an eye on? Of course I'll try to find anything wrong, but a tip on what's usual to fault would be highly appreciated!
BTW I'm looking for a 98-00 V6, since I don't like the feeling of the 1.8T and also, and I don't know why exactly, the v6's look more reliable on the long term (aka old car). Most cars I'm finding have more than 160k km. Is that any potential problem? I don't know how long can a well maintained engine go with no major problems.
Thanks a lot!
