Grinding Noise when in gear

Grinding Noise when in gear
Ok now I think I have some troubles. The car was running great and has been for some time and last night that all changed.
Stopped to get gas and when I started to go again the car moved about 4 feet and then it seems the gears disenguaged and a loud grinding noise started. The car runs fine when I start it in neutral but as soon as I put it in any gear I get a loud grinding noise and it will not move, as if its still in neutral.
After pushing the car out of the way a bearing seems to have fallen out of it. Any ideas?

Oh as soon as I heard the noise the engine got shut of and towed to the garage. They are going to look at it tomorrow, I just wanted to see if anyone knew what it might be.
