Default Grinding Noise In Rear

So about 2 months ago my 99 1.8T Quattro makes a very loud metal grinding noise in the back while i go over bumps or dips in the road at low speeds (1 - 50km/h). About a month later my last to replace wheel bearing starts humming on the same side of where that noise is coming from.

The noise is very loud in the car, but friends/family cannot hear it from the outside. Anyone have any ideas wtf is going on? Can it be just the bearing/wheel scraping up on something?

K so I hoisted the thing up and found nothing loose that may be making that metalic squeeling. Typical wheel play when the bearing is gone, but thats about it. I'll make sure to post the findings once I take it in on Friday

maybe the bearing wasnt installed properly...the mechanic may have torqued the hub too tight.

All other bearings have been installed except for this one, so it's no surprise it's dead. YES! Toronto streets are a nightmare

I had a bad bearing in my rear passenger. It sounded like someone rubbing metal all the time, almost like a higher pitch grinding noise. It was effected by bumps and so forth but it wasn't only when I hit them. The bearing is probably just breaking down. It took a while for mine to get the way it was but I don't know what kind of "symptoms" took place before as I just bought the car. I got the bearing replaced though and it still makes some noise, which makes me kinda :s about the install job. Even though it was done by an authorized audi dealer.
