Greetings forum members,

My A4 has recently been throwing the following error code:

17704
Error in Mapped Cooling System (usually temp sensor or thermostat)
:P1296 static - no indication on display

Does this mean I should just replace the temp sensor and thermostat to see what happens? Or are there certain ways of troubleshooting this, since I'd prefer to do the work myself rather than take it to the shop?

That did the trick. Although their solution was a bit tedious, there was an easier way around.

Finally back to the Check Engine-less dash.
