Default ebay timing belt kit?!

Hi folks,

i am looking to change my timing belt and obviously looking for the cheapest but still safe way out...so i was looking at this: Audi A4 01 02 03 04 05 Timing Belt Water Pump Kit on eBay.ca (item 280243787378 end time 02-Jul-09 15:48:36 EDT) and wanted to know what you guys think. Is it good or am I wasting my money?

wow your brave i like doing the work on my car but the timing belt ill leave it to a pro who has done it b4 not to say your not a pro.

for the parts I have seen them go for around 120 to 160 and for e bay I wont buy moving parts for my engine from e bay thats for sure i had a bad part come from some e bay store and they wanted me to pay for shiping to return it.

I'm using their parts, so far not bad. And they have a tax/duty free cheap shipping method(UPS world ease) which is lower than what showed on ebay. Mine's B5 2.8, so may some diffs. their timing belt and Serpentine Belt are name brand, same as local aftermarket. water pump and seals are same Germany brand as OE. But tensioner roller and roller are no name parts, if your car's OE stuff still ok, don't change them. belt roller will be not a problem. but I found for v6, the tensioner roller's centro-cylinder's material is too soft, any over torque will make the tensioner roller seized, but under audi spec, it'll no problem.

For 1.8, the timing job is quite easy, just do extrame careful.

For alternate part source, try autopartsway.ca their parts price only slightly higher than local shop's cost.

Good luck.

I would go with ECS tuning's parts as they are a bit more durable IMO

I found ECStuning to be quite expensive. I pieced together a timing belt kit on autopartsway.ca that was exactly the same as the ECS kit. I mean exactly down to the part brands and everything. It ended up being less in Canadian funds! Plus free shipping anywhere in Canada! This was for the 3.0 however but I would look into for the 1.8T. Might be worth your while. Then you are buying in Canada AND getting the good parts.
