DRL's and HID's
Hello everyone, i just picked up a 96 A4 quattro. It has depo 2 piece projector headlights in it and i'd like to put HID's in the projector part (low beam).
What has everyone done to take care of the Daytime running lights? As far as i know you can't run HID's on the lower voltage the DRL's put out. Is there an easy way to disable the DRL's?
Thanks.

Re: DRL's and HID's
I don't have fogs ...... they seem to be missing (see pic)
I think the front clip of the car has been changed to a 2001 type but the fog lights where not installed. The fog light button on the dash doesn't turn anything on.
I noticed a small bulb inside the high beam lens .... is this supposed to be my day time running light or fog light? Its not working either.
My daytime running lights illuminate the projectors, not at full brightness though.

Re: DRL's and HID's
The 1996-1998.5 A4's had the foglights integrated into the headlight housings. Those years used the low beam at reduced intensity as the Canadian DRL.
Projector lights showed up in the 1999-2001 models and the fog light function moved down to a pair of lights in the bumper where they acted as the Canadian DRL's.
Not aware of any way of adding DRL's for a projector 96-98 apart from adding foglights and wiring an extra relay into the ignition switch circuits.

So i guess i should be looking for the disconnected fog light plugs somewhere. I would like to install the 99-01 type in the bumper.
