My climate control seems to work fine, except that it won't automatically re-direct the air based on whether it's heating or cooling. It only goes to the dash vents when on auto. I can re-direct it manually. Any thoughts?

Well the question is kind of really broad, what do you mean it wont re-direct air? none of them do from your explenation

When the HVAC is set on auto, the air should be directed down when it's heating teh cabin, and through the dash when it's cooling. At least that's how every other automated climate control I've seen works. Right now, it sends all air through the dash vents regardless of heat/cool. The good news is, the system does create the correct temperature, just in the wrong places.

This week is the first time since I've bought the car that I've needed heat.
