Default Buying an A4

I am going to buy an 1999-2001 Audi A4, what are the things i should look out for when shopping?

And does anyone have or know anybody that has an audi a4 1.8t for sale for around $8000 up to 180,000 KM?

Thanks

Timing belt, water pump, suspension... most of all, be very careful around used Audi product with no service record, and especially any car with a U.S. title.

By the time you get up to 180k, it might be time to start thinking about the life span of the turbo too.

Definitely do a thorough inspection either yourself or with someone who really knows audis. When I bought my '98 1.8t last month with 145K on it, my mechanic wouldn't stop raving about what great condition it was in, even as he laid out the $2000 worth of repairs that were needed.

Odds are 50-50 at best that you will find an 8-10 year old A4 that does *not* need any service. My experience in shopping was that a lot of owners will put theirs on the market as soon as their mechanic tells them they've got a major repair on the horizon, especially the timing belt/water pump.
