Default Brake Light Problems!

Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum and would really appreciate some help with this very frustrating issue. I have a 2000 A4 1.8t quattro.

I replaced my left rear tail light this afternoon as the indicator light came on in the dash. Everything was fine and the bulb worked. I got back in and noticed that my break light warning was now on the dash. I went and checked and sure enough now my break lights do not work. This is extremely odd because I then checked the bulbs and the fuse which were perfectly fine. Any ideas why the brake lights would suddenly stop working?? and what the problem may be?

any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

Ryan

VAG Scan the vehicle.

It is possible the Brake Light Switch has failed and VAG will confirm if that is the case.

A new Brake light Switch is less than $20 and easy to install but be sure to follow the directions that it comes with.

Thats the most likely culprit for what you're describing.
