Bought a Audi - followup questions.
Hi, just joined this forum and just got a Audi A4 2.4L V6, non Quattro, non turbo. Tiptronic.
I was not provided a car manual.
1) What engine should I use? We have a car that is near 20yr old and uses Synthetic Penzoil - I know its not the more marketed Mobil 1 and much cheaper, but does it matter if we do regular oil changes?
2) There is a orange dipstick is thisfor the gears? I thought there was supposed to be 2 dipsticks where is the other one for the engine oil? For this orange one, how do I check the gauge?
3) What is this button for?
It is above the windscreen wiper. I know how to use the wiper but pulling and it up etc. But this switch above it, what's it for? Its like a sliding button on the same stalk handle.
4) What is this button for?
Is this for the foglights? It is on the right side above the driver's legs. The picture is same as the foglights but you can scroll it for one horizontal bar, 2 and 3 bars. Is it to make the foglight more broader or higher angle or ...
5) I don't appear to know how to change the time on the car.
How do I do it? There does not seem to be any buttons around the clock, it's behind the glass where the instruments are.

1) Oil - you will get lots of opinions but synthetic is pretty much recommended for most newer Audi engines. There's a whole bunch that are supposed to meet a specifc VW spec. Best bet would be to phone an Audi dfealer and ask them what they recommend. If you don't want to do that, then I'd suggest a 10W-30. My B5 2.8LV6 was on a 12000km/12 month change interval; the B6 and B7 are on 15000km/12 month intervals. Lots of folks are doing 6000km change intervals.
2) Don't know but I expect the orange dipstick is most likely the engine one, especially if it's very accessible - one checks the engine oil far more frequently than the transmission.
3) Sounds like the switch to set the delay interval for the intermittent wiper setting; intermittent setting is usually one position up from off.
4) Sounds like the headlight level adjustment; heavy load in back of the car, lower the headlights a little. turn the headlights on and adjust the switch; should be able to see the change easily.
5) if there's a -/+/Mode switch at the bottom of the cluster just press the Mode button and then the -/+ to make the adjustment; press mode again to move betweeb date and time. If you have a little stalk at the bottom of the cluster, pull it out and then rotate it.

Lots of debate on this but the most important thing is changing regularly. Go full synthetic, I had a list of recommended oils i'll see if I can dig it up.

The dipstick in the engine bay is for engine oil. There is none for transmission fluid on the Audi, the unit is sealed and supposedly "lifetime" but once you get up in the kms you may want to have it changed by an independent mechanic.

As said above, its for when you have the wipers on to the first stage...it shortens and lengthens the delay based on where the switch is.

If its digital follow the instructions above, if its a clock with hands then just pull out the little **** closest to the clock and it'll change.

Now .. anyone know where the fuse box is?
I learnt how to take the tyre off it now .. the former owner had that special nut/bolt in the glovebox. Ie., 4 bolts can be taken off by the wrench but the 5th one needs a bolt/nut as a adaptor - maybe for security reasons.
Also, can the keys be copied so I have a spare set?
I just wanna check my mechanic said there is 2 place to open the radiator and add water - is that the case ... or do they take coolant / water premixed in ther reserverior?
