A4 a commuter car?
I am looking to buy an used A4 in this coming winter and I am gonna list all the things that you should
know before answering my question:
Model Year: Between 1998-2002 (depending on the price)
Engine: 2.8T Q + (And no I am not planning to mod my car or anything)
Transmission: Automatic
Purpose: highway commuting apx 250Kms a day for 3-4 days a week.
Budget: Upto 10K (depending on the condition of the car)
Anyway so my question is do you guys think it would be too much for the car if i use the car as a commuter vehicle? Any other suggestion related to expected maintenance due to heavy wear/tear etc will be greatly appreciated so feel freet to express your opinion and such.
Thanks in advance.

Re: A4 a commuter car?
I think it is a great commuter car. It is awesome on highway gas mileage, I would look into Quattro more then anything if you are commuting so far in winter. The 2.8 or 3.0 engine in the new 2002 and so on are very good and reliable engines. I had a friend with a 1996 or 97 A4 Quattro with 497 000 km's without any problems he ended up selling the car a year or 2 back for $7000 I dont know how far your budget is going to get you but definetly consider the service history and if the timing belt and water pump have been replaced.

Re: A4 a commuter car?
i drive a 2008 3.2, and as far as the engine goes, it is solid...
on all highway commitutes, i can get about 650 off 1 tank... maybe more... if i drove a bit more conservatively....
i'd definately check on teh service history, prior to making a decision...
either wayz, here's hoping u do grab 1, and enjoy it as much as i enjoy mine..

Re: A4 a commuter car?
I run mine 200 km a day / 1000+ a week and it's a solid, comfortable ride. Mileage is superb with 800+ km between fill-ups. Just change the oil (full synthetic 5w40 for me) frequently. Crank the tunes and enjoy the ride!
