Thumbs up 97 A4

Ok.......... So here I am... Just picked up my First Audi and had to find myself an Audi Forum... So here I be. First Off I guess I just wana know the basics. I merged towards Audi cause I'm not really into the "ricer" Lifestyle. And enjoy the Luxury part of cars a little more. And I guess audi's just Hit both luxury and speed together nicely . Now i'm just ramblin on........ But basically I know very little about these cars. So i'm here to learn lots. Also I know nothing about turbo setups so I'll be asking lots bout that stuff too. So anyways I picked up a 1997 Audi A4 1.8T. Would that make it a B5? I dont know the difference between the B's either . I just picked the car up today and haven't really had a chance to do to much driving. I'm trying to delay the driving for a lil bitty, Cause the Guy I bought it from said he changed the oil but didn't put synthetic back in it. I'm going to change it as soon as i'm not broke. Is it bad to drive it with the regular oil in it? I guess the only problem i've really had with this thing so far, is the door locks. ( and the key fob). I can hear the doors WANTING to lock but they just dont. When I press the key fob button to lock it the lights just flicker and I dont hear anything. Then when I actually Put the key in the door to lock the car it makes the locking noise. But only locks the door that i've got the key in. Any quick things to check out? otherwise I have no problems doing it manually. But anyways I look forward to learning lots about this car. Sorry this msg is so Mixed up, I had to get up way early this morning

Also Do these cars come with stock BOV's? And what can I do to actually be able to hear that turbo "wistle" Ok ima add to this.... I guess I may be looking for a Deverter valve. And Will this mess up the motor in anyway. I Do want that Blow off sound but dont want it at the cost of my motor. Ya know?

Forge Diverter Valves are your best bet in my opinion, and you do not want a BOV (Blow Of Valve) as they are not recomened for the 1.8T motor.
They either make you Run Rich/Or Lean Dont Rember now.

I personaly have a Forge Splitter Valve (Although i have not been able to Boost since i put it on tho).

hey welcome to the forum... yep it's the B5 that you have and it sounds like you're just about ready to get carried away with the tuning thing.... slow down and think things through carefully.

Oh it'll be a slow process. I'm not all about tuning with out knowing what i'm doing. I wana know the pros and cons of everything I do. That's why i'm here, TO LEARN But the only thing i'll prolly do soon enough is throw a Chip in it. Try and get a little better all around, Throttle response, Gas mileage, etc....
