Purchasing an Audi A4 Quattro

Hey there, I was snooping around trying to research about a car I'm interested in and came across the forum and was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me out?

The car i'm looking into buying is a 2000 Audi A4 Quattro with a 1.8L turbo with automatic+shiftronic
163000 kms, has a new transmission and is very straight and clean

I was just worried about a couple of things
Because of the slightly rarity of the car and value how much more is insurance generally?
I've seen some stuff around about how it's expensive to maintain and repair, how true is this statement?
Any other advice/things to look for when I go to look at the car again would help!
Thanks! :)

Re: Purchasing an Audi A4 Quattro

ask if the timing belt was done which includes the water pump, tensioner, and pulley insurance depends on your record really its a 4d sedan not a ferrari as for maintinence it can get expensive but ive noticed that some parts at the dealer can be either really cheap or expensive compared to domestic cars. Ask the seller what was done to the car if he/she has maintinece records look them over things like control arms. wheel bearings tend to go at that mileage so its either they were already replaced or ur going to have to eventually do them.'

search the forums aswell there are plenty of threads on what to look for when buying a used audi.

Re: Purchasing an Audi A4 Quattro

i actually own a 2000 audi quattro 1.8t, manual trans.
its awesome i love it, and the insurance hasnt changed at all for me.. i only pay $1000 a year..
i was going to get some belts changes out like a timing belt... its fairly expensive.. around $1500 including a replacement of the water pump, which its cheaper to do all at once..

Re: Purchasing an Audi A4 Quattro

1000 a year at what discount? (I'm in BC too, dealing with ICBC)
i'm only at 15% discount

and i'm not worried about labour costs or anything, I'd do it all myself (Dads mechanic, i've been rebuilding cars since i was 15.) Was more worried about parts

My last car I had was a 92 Subaru SVX and I had to sell it because parts for it would have been astronomical, this is what i'm scared of. (The windshield for it was 2800$!)
