Inner & outer tie rods.
 
looking to replace outer tie rod. unable to separate it from the inner. anyone ever replace the inner tie rod. how difficult is it to DIY?

its a nightmare!!! find someone that can do it for a good price.

I replaced both outers and one inner. The inner unthreads off the end of the rack, it's not that bad to change. Just be sure to measure and set your lengths so that you can at least drive to the alignment shop when your done replacing parts.

You may also want new boots but be forwarned that the large diameter inboard clamp can be a bugger to get at. There are access panels thru the engine firewall to get at these clamps as well. Be sure that the boots seal properly and are weather proof.
