Center Diff seal ?

1 Attachment(s)
Anyone ever had to change the oil seal on the center diff. I have the bentley manual but I can't find any info on changing that seal, it does talk about taking the diff out, but not changing that seal.

Any help very much appreciated,
here is a pic , its leaking from the area in red

Re: Center Diff seal ?

I don't know exactly but mine is leaking slightly too, so i asked my mechannic and he said just leave it be - its a major (read not cheap) effort and the slight amount of oil lost is too little to measure. just check the tranny oil from time to time to make sure it doesn't get too much worse.

I'm planning to relocate my transmission oil cooler in the spring, when i do, and change the tranny oil/filter and leaking seal at the same time, i'll post a report on that project. I suspect the worst of it is removing and reinstalling the driveshaft, it shouldn't be too hard to pry out and replace the seal itself.
