Car squeals when accelerating but stops when I break
Hey guys, I sure keep having bad luck with this A4. I have a 1999 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T with Tiptronic. When I have my foot on the gas and accelerate, I can hear a squeaking noise, it continues to squeak while I maintain speed. The squeaking starts quiet and slow as I accelerate and am at around 30km/h but as I get up to around 60km/h, it starts to squeak a little louder and a lot faster. As soon as I put my foot on the brake and I don't mean slamming the brake, I just mean even slightly nudging it, the squeak disappears completely until I put my foot on the gas again. Any ideas?

Maybe one of your rotors is bad?

I think you have a worn belt. It's squealing as the RPM's rise and when you get off the gas and the RPM's fall the squealing stops. That's my 2 cents.

i'm thinking it might be a belt too.
does it go away or become quieter when you just let go of the gas and not braking? if yes then it should be a belt. |
