Brake Pads
Got new brake pads called quick stops from Parts Source.
Hardcore Stuff. They are hard yet do not squeak. I can stop from 220 to zero twice in a row. The other cars behave funny in the mirror |

And why would you be going 220km/h on a public road? |

Re: Brake Pads
Hard braking 220km/h to zero? I'm sure your brakes just love that. Please tell me you are at least the only person in your vehicle while you are doing this... I've done a couple runs to 200+ km/h myself, very briefly and all I can think about when I'm going that fast is how dead I would be if something went wrong... Is it thrilling? Yes it certianly is. I did it on the same empty, straight, freshly paved and wide open backroad in the county, when nobody else is within sight or earshot, and more importantly I did it by myself. It doesn't really make it right though... The fact that you by your own admission are doing this, and then hard braking when other drivers are around, and BEHIND YOU(wtf is wrong with you!?) makes me really shake my head.
I just lost a co-worker to a side impact collision last week, husband, and father of 3 young children... He was in his early 30s. He was only doing 80-90km/h and someone ran a stop sign at a 2 way intersection... These are only modest speeds and it killed him, and at someone elses "minor" mistake... the other driver just missed the stop sign. His 10 year old and wife walked away. How much worse do you think it would have been if he was doing 120? 150? 200? PS: Did you use your patented "spray your rotors with WD-40" after installing your new pads? |
Re: Brake Pads
I always use wd40 on new brakes and than I need to burn it off. I do not drive at 220 all the time because I need 3 lanes to do it. We have stretches of higway under construction and not incorporated in the road system yet in Calgary. These are not cop patrolled and in the evening many drivers test their Beemers and Hondas there.
I am sorry for your friend. What vehicle was he driving? My wife had a collision with Suzuki Samurai and her car Volvo 960 disasemebled itself underneath so there was no chassis left. The Suzuki went to the side of the road and up the hill 120 meters. Nobody was hurt. |

And why would you be going 220km/h on a public road? I could stop once from 150 to Zero. After that I had to wait 3 minutes so they would work again at full power. They made my wheels dirty. |

EHHHH So you will be rather killed here by a slowpoker than in Germany by a speeder. The worst (at 20) is Korea and Czech Repuplic. |
Re: Brake Pads
Adam, you would be doing us all a great favor if you moved to Germany.
