Hello,

The starter has gone on my 2003 A4. I'm just wondering if anyone could give me a rough idea what it should cost to rebuild? Of course the car broke down while I was out of town. Instead of being five minutes from my usual garage I'm stuck out in the country right between Ottawa and Montreal.

There is a guy in a little town here that quoted me $200 (if he has the parts) which seems high to me. I seem to remember the last starter I had rebuild ran me about $80 (it was not for an Audi). Just wondering if I should start looking for a place in Ottawa to rebuild it, or if $200 is reasonable?

I have removed the starter, just looking for a price on the rebuild only. If anyone knows who I should take it to in Ottawa that info would be appreciated to.

Reman is about 200.00 from this place...and free shipping! To have it rebuilt should be less, unless hes actually quoting a rebuilt starter, which would be fine, if it was a new reman..

 

Send it to Newfoundland,cost me 80 for the starter and 40 for the alternator,and warranty for as long as I own it.
