a4 sputters during fast acceleration at 3000rpm
I was wondering if someone might be able to shed some light on a problem that has stumped me for months..
I have a 1999.5 audi a4 quattro b5 1.8t with 330km - It's running well with one exception. when I accelerate quickly (usually when im in 3rd gear) between 2000-3000rpm the car seems to sputter a little. sort of jerky loss of acceleration, the RPMs drop very slightly then pick right back up. There is no check engine light, and I did a scan and no fault codes show up. If i accelerate slow to moderately it has no sputtering what so ever. I changed the air filter and cleaned the mass airflow sensor with MAF cleaner. Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this sort of behavior? One thing i noticed today was I tried accelerating with the petal all the way down, and the car didn't sputter. I read online that lots of people say to try changing the spark plugs and possibly the coil packs. Might anyone have any ideas what it could cause this sort of behavior? |
Re: a4 sputters during fast acceleration at 3000rpm
I took it for another test drive to really isolate what was happening. it appears to stutter between 2500-3000 rpm in 2nd and 3rd gear.
i looked at the RPM's and it doesnt seem to drop like i initially thought (if it does it isnt much) not sure what it could be |
