How does one know when the chains need doing - short of them failing?

Sometimes (although not always), you can hear a rattling noise for longer than the standard initial 2 seconds when being started from cold.

If the rattling stops within 2 seconds of start-up, it's considered normal (oil pressure coming up) but longer and there's a chance your guides are starting to fail.

That said, some have had catastrophic failures with absolutely no heads up or warnings of any kind.

Thanks Axel. Not sure that's good news but thanks just the same!
