2004 S4 enjin cut out

I drive a 2004 S4 and for the past two months the motor just cut out while driving. Leaving it for 30 min it starts - a garage did a diagnostic test on the vehicle with result showing the clutch sensor as the probleme - is it possible for that sensor to cut out the enjin and is it possible for me to bypass it
