2004 Audi S4 Engine Overheating

I have an 2004 S4 6 speed. The other day i crushed into a rocky ditch, and i have gotten undercarriage damage, and the airbags blew. I got out of the car cause i couldnt breathe due to the airbag smoke. The car was still running. After some seconds smoke started to come out of the hood and then the engine stopped. I seems like it seized because it lost all the water at impact. Now i got a weird grind sound when the engine is started. I am also worried about other damage since i heard overheating kills your head gaskets, it can warp the heads, excessive wear of crankshaft/camshaft. Please give me some advice What could have happend and if i am gonna have future problems. thanks.

Re: 2004 audi ENGIEN OVERHEAT HELP

the grinding could be from something having been damaged in the crash, not neccessarily the overheating.

I assume that since you pulled the car back out you checked everything over and refilled the coolant before starting it?

I had an old car once with overheating issues, it overheated twice on me because the fan sensor was broken at the time. All in all nothing seemed to get damaged from it, but overheating can lead to a cracked block or head, not just gasket failure. Again, there would be signs, like leaking coolant or oil and things like that if that had occured.

yeah i checked all the fluids and damage, it was safe to start. i couldnt put in any antifreeze cause it would go out, so i could just start it for like 10 seconds and gotta turn it off. the problem is that it not just overheated, that it also seized up from guts expension. i need some facts for my insurance company.

If your going through insurance which it sounds like you will need to do, just take it to a shop and get it looked at. Don;t wait, do it now. You want the mechanic report to be right after the accident.

You want a good shop to check over your Audi to assist with details needed for an MPI claim.

Good Luck!

What did you end up doing? It might be helpful to others if you post up the results.
