Default Odd sound when in full turn (super low speed)

Anyone else notice a grinding or thumping sound when you turn to full lock either way (let's say you're trying to turn around in the street)?
I have a new S5 (Cab) and when I turn around in my complex or back out of my garage and have to turn to full stop it really concerns me with the clunking noise.

Hmmm. I am going to try this on my S4 and let you know. I'll do it in an underground so it's easier to hear.

Actually I tried it in both directions and it only happens when I turn the wheels full lock to the right. Either backing out of my garage or moving forward.
You shouldn't need to have a quiet surrounding. You'll definately know it when you hear it.

I looked this up on the other forums and there are reams of threads pronouncing this same issue. Apparently it is either not a problem and will go away with time or it's a brake caliber that needs replacing or there's a service bulletin that addresses this issue. It's all over the shop as to what's going on and whether it's an issue or not.
I'm going to take this up with my dealer.
I'll keep everyone posted on what transpires.

Angry Re: Odd sound when in full turn (super low speed)

Go figure!!
This morning I back out of my garage and the noise is gone.
Of course my service appointiment is today.

Either way I'm going to take the vehicle in and see if I can replicate the noise even if I have to back my way all the way to the shop!

Unbelievable.........

I'll update this thread with what transpires.

Yes Murphy at his finest!!

Actually as a quick update (just got back from dropping my car off)....
The service guy did have a good point.
It's raining here today and perhaps the differential is not binding as much because the wheels are slipping.
As I recall, each day it made this noise it was bone dry pavement.

But I left it for them to check out.
Not a good omen if the AWD binds when the tires grip. Yikes!
Poor design??

I'll post the final results when I pick her up this afternoon.

Well, the results are in and guess what?
They couldn't find anything wrong.

Mind you, yesterday it poured rain all day and the roads were very slick.

A little drier today and forecast is for clearer skys towards the weekend.

I'll try to replicate on dry pavement for the final verdict.

To update this:
I haven't noticed this problem again since taking to the dealer the first time.
Mind you it's been two months and it hasn't stopped raining ;~
But seriously it hasn't been an issue since.
Odd.

Hi there.
I know exactely what sound you refer to!
I noticed the same in my uncles A4 wagon and as well my S4 2013.
The noise you hear is definetely from the tires on the oposite side of the turn.
As the car you drive have AWD.
they tend to turn wile trying to make the curve at the same time.
This causes the tires to jump a little, wile turning.
That is it.
I recomend not to use full turn manouvering any ways.
It may cause problems with the Hydrolic system.
good luck on your Car.
