Default Why would you....?

Why Spend all this money on an A3 when you don't choose to have; Quattro,Xenon headlights and Dsg?
I'm currently looking for an A3 but these options seem to be the whole reason into why you'd want to get an Audi vehicle. I keep seeing people on forums stating how they'd wish to have gotten Quattro instead of FWD. I mean if I can't afford to get those options right now (in my case) I don't see why i'd get an Audi at all...
I am working on it though, for sure I will get Q prenium before the summer instead of just getting it now with zero options. What do you guys think?

The excuse on Quattro in the A3 is: Although it's an AWD, it's Quattro system is different from most Audis (except the case of TT). This meaning that all other models are equipped with Torsen system which is a mechanical AWD, compared to the Haldex system (electrical AWD) in the A3. The Haldex system is mostly a FWD car until it senses a slip in the front wheels. Although it is better than most FWD cars, the system cannot be compared directly to a Torsen. (Haldex system is widely used on Saab's and many other cars)

Xenon lights: They're good for you at night, but you will pop out other driver's eyes.

DSG: excellent drivetrain, but some people just like manual better.

Personally for me, I wouldn't really care about all the extra features it has as long as it drives the same. Of course, extra features ARE nice, but you don't neccessarily need them to drive around.

Hmm thanks for answering. Now you got me thinking if Quattro is really that necessary. I live in Montreal, and theres a lot of snow in the winter, which is why for me Quattro was an obvious choice. And the Xenon, well I didnt know one could blind another driver with them... I wanted Xenon because they look so sexy at night and in the day...
If I dont choose Quattro, am I still going to be ok in the winter?
and for xenon, can I add that afterwards, say at an audi dealer?

If you ARE looking for a quattro, I'd say try aiming for an A4, Haldex AWD is obviously better compared to a FWD but in snowy situations, I personally believe Torsen is superior compared to Haldex. But Halex obviously helps a lot in the snow too like I said.

Xenons are VERY sexy, but they are really bright for the other drivers. I believe you can add them later on, but it will be very costly. Xenons aren't illegal or anything like that, especially the brightness on the stock ones are a lot less bright than the aftermarket ones. But for other drivers, it can get pretty bright. But if you really want them, I'd say just go for it.

Which of these cars would you pick price/quality wise?
2007 A3 3.2 V6
Used 2007 AUDI A3 3.2 S-Line Quattro Wagon 4D for sale at Park Avenue Audi in Brossard

2007 A3 2.0T FWD

Used 2007 Audi A3 CUIR, MAGS,AUT. TOIT PANORAMIQUE for sale at Campbell & Cameron Volkswagen in LaSalle

Or simply a brand new 2011 A3 2.0T (with options of choice)

I'm in the same boat as you right now looking for a good used A4 ( actually more for my wife than me). It's a tough decision what to do, but I always think it's a better financial decision to buy used and not take the big depreciation hit on a new car. Of the options you've given, the second choice for under $20K looks like the best deal to me if Quattro isn't important to you. Good Luck

Having had both the A4 with the Torsen system and the A3 with Haldex, I can honestly say you won't notice any difference. The Haldex system is totally transparent and works very well. The Xenons are definitely worth it. Get them both.

Clyde, can i see a pic of your S4?
I think I'm going to get the A4 instead, my gf isn't really digging the A3
I did find something pretty sleek though:
used 2007 black on black A4 2.0T Quattro S-Line with Titanium package.
The car has 89 307km on it and price tag is set to $27 995... (Audi dealership)
What do you guys think? Is that a good deal?
the car looks exactly like this one:

I saw this car on Audi Lauzon's website....very nice. I've talked to one of their sales reps a few days ago about an Avant they have. The best I think I could do was $1000 off asking price, which would not be too bad IF it was CPO, but their advertised prices do not include CPO and they charge $2200 more for it !! So to get back to your car, I'd say that $26-27 would be reasonable IF it was a CPO, but I doubt you'll get them to move that much. I'd love it if you could prove me wrong, so I could get a better deal out of them as well.

If you're looking for a black on black S-Line Titanium Ed. and don't mind a wagon, this would be a better deal:
