Default Tires, winter ones that is

I'm in Montreal. Can anyone recommend a place to by reasonably priced 225/45R17 winter tires for my A3. Audi want $277 + tax each! Don't want the mags - too ugly

Thanks!

Whatever you do, don't buy winter tires and wheels from Audi as they will rip you off big time. I don't know of any stores out your way but hopefully some Montreal members will chime in. Try and message ed@audiyo. He lives out your way.

Keep in mind that your Audi dealer is not a tire shop. They offer the service because they have to. Unfortunately they are likely buying the tires from another tire shop in town that is also marking the tires up. My dealer is pretty good about pointing out things like that and directing me elsewhere when it will save me money.

Here's another example of where my dealer showed me to save money: TPMS sensors are not necessary, even if you have the tire pressure monitoring option on your car. You will get a light on your DIS because the system doesn't detect the sensors, but it will not affect you vehicle in any way. In our climate, you may even get that light on a really cold day when the pressure fluctuates.

If you, like me, have to have them, Tire Rack is also a good alternative for TPMS sensors. I bought a set from them for the winter wheels I purchased for an 08 TT. From Audi they start at over $100 each. The exact sensors from Tire Rack were $55 each.

slightly offtopic but... for future audi drivers in the gta, if you lease/purchase an '08 or '09 quattro this month, you can either get free snow tires or the maintenance package. it doesn't say anywhere on audi.ca but there was a half-page ad in the globe & mail's auto section about it.

the catch: must take delivery by end of this month (oct 31), which means no factory orders.

For those people who mentioned Tire Rack, this is a US web site.

Has anyone had tires sent to Canada from this company?

Thanks!

My dealer wants to sell me Toyo Garit Kx tires for $1108 + taxes.

Anyone recommend what I can buy online for my A3? (and who fits tires you buy yourself anyway?)
