I'd stick with the FWD if you want a lighter car & Quattro for Multi-purpose..

I have a 2012 fwd S-line...and with some sticky summer tires it feels and handles great. Really quick on the turn in but you do have to be patient and know the limits. I was comparing the the fwd GTi...... You have to realize that this is a really great FWD platform and not some crappy eco box that understeers on every corner. Also FWD is lighter and gets better MPG...also available with a 6 speed manual....but quattro would be great in the winter of course...

I have zero complaints with my FWD, albeit that it must be wicked fun in winter running a Quattro setup with ESP turned off. I'm already considering to swap for an '09 Quattro next summer...
