Door wiring harness failure
I had the wires break in the door jam of the driver's side door of my 2008 A3. Of course, under warranty replacing the harness is a simple fix, but I was heading off on a big road trip (to the Olympics!) and I needed my car. The dealer was able to perform an approved VW fix and repair the wires. Supposedly this happens to Tiguans and Jettas frequently. Not ideal I know, but it beat ruining my trip.
Anyway, I'm posting this in case this happens to owners in the future that do not want to pay for a new harness.
