I'm about to bring my A3 in for the first complimentary maintenance. I have up to 1 year or 20k kms to decide whether or not I want to purchase the Audi Care. Apparently it covers all of the scheduled maintenance for 48 months.

Thoughts/Opinions on this would be great.

i dont think its worth the money...if your a car guy, you probably take good care of your investment. how many time have you seen a ripped seat. the other items you can do

Sorry, but your post doesn't make sense.

I am a car guy, and I do take care of my car.

But I don't do my own oil changes, brake flushes, coolant flushes, etc ...

It's ALL maintenance for 4 years on the car. I just don't know how much it would cost outside of the Audi Care package. They want $750+ tax.

That's why I'm posting here because I want to start a discussion.

Start with doing some math.
The other day at was at the dealership in Mississauga and it said 120 for an oil change.
Not sure what the owners manual says but I do my every 10km.

So you got 7 oil changes x 120. So thats 840. Now you know this price is inflated and it will cost you about 60 bucks to do it yourslef and if you buy the oil on sale you might get away with 50. so lets say the oil if you did it yourslef woulf be 400 bucks. Now you need one DSG fluid change.

I dont know many bottles yours is but I have to buy 6 at 20 bucks a buttle online otherwise its 27 and the filter is 30 bucks. If you have the quattro you need diff fluid and filter. Fluid is about 30 bucks the filter about 93 (dealer prices) you can get them a little cheaper online.

You also need the VAG tool for the DSG fluid change. That will run you 400 bucks. But you only need to buy it once. I got one since we have 3 audis in the the family so everyone pitched in.

I think if you dont plan to be a long time Audi owner go with the pakcage. The VAG tool alone will set you back 400 bucks.

Good call. Owners manual says 8k/1yr for the first oil change and then 25k/1yr for the second oil change.

Do you think it's better to do it more often than that?

I think i'm going to do it. Just the fluids alone in the next 3 years will be worth it. The guy at the stealership said it covers the brake fluid flush at 55k as well.

I am no oil expert and you could probably find million and one people sitting on both ends of the fence why you should do it sooner or later.

I changed my sister oil last night she has the A4 the oil was almost black but it wasn’t like water it still seemed to poor pretty good.

The first oil change is probably a good idea to do it sooner than 10k like they recommend. but after the first one i would do it every 10k. But again its up to you 17km sounds a little high. It also depends how you drive. If it’s mostly hwy then they say you could get away with longer intervals and if you drive around town more than you would do it sooner. I think it has to do with the heating and cooling cycles of oil. Never really got into the chemistry of it all.

And the brake fluid flush is a plus didn't even think about it. So it’s probably worth getting the package.

one thing i should add is that its usually the filters that go before the oil goes bad. Some people will just replace the filters and keep driving on the same oil for long intervals.

protection program the dealer was offering...interior, exterior, mags, etc..
